CBS reports: Scammers cash in on car “accidents”

CBS News dispatched chief investigative correspondent Armen Keteyian to Florida to tell a national audience about “scam artists who stage car crashes in order to cash in.” Keteyan reports that Personal Injury Protection (PIP) has “set the stage for massive fraud.”

“Investigators say crooked clinic owners can rake in as much as $2 million a year in phony billings. Unethical doctors, lawyers and even massage therapists are involved and all get a cut,” according to the CBS News report.

It’s just one more sign that PIP reform is desperately needed in Florida.
